Carmela Soprano Carmela Soprano (Edie Falco) Tony's wife, and the mother of his two children. Initially destined for academic success, she met Tony in high school and quickly dropped out of her Business Administration course to become his wife. Having spent a very long time forgiving Tony for his numerous indiscretions, and tolerated his lack of family guidance, she's become disillusioned with the lifestyle - and all of the riches, fur, glamour and trappings of the monied lifestyle aren't enough to hold her in place. Ironically, she uses the fruits of Tony's ill-gotten gains to make a perfect family home for the four of them, but the violent life that Tony leads has rubbed off on her - she knows never to take anything lying down and occasionally shows a distinctly steely and ruthless edge. Maybe it's the fact that her own family contains links to the mob, or the fact that she's too bright to be continually messed around by the big guy, but in later episodes we see her developing distinctly itchy feet and realise that her own attractiveness means that, if she doesn't want to, she doesn't have to be an unhappy mobster's wife forever. » Soprano Cast |
